MuleSoft announces the release of Anypoint Service Mesh 1.1.

New Features and Enhancements

The following new features and enhancements are introduced in Anypoint Service Mesh 1.1:

  • Extended autodiscovery capability to include REST and SOAP APIs

Anypoint Service Mesh can now autodiscover REST and SOAP APIs, in addition to HTTP APIs.

  • Extended support for user authentication when creating APIs (Anypoint Service Mesh autocreate) using Connected Apps

Prior to this release, only users managed by the native Anypoint Platform identity provider (IdP) were successfully authenticated to use the Anypoint Service Mesh autocreate feature. With this release, you can now authenticate users regardless of where they are managed—Anypoint Platform or an external IdP, using Connected Apps (recomended).

  • Updated Anypoint Service Mesh architecture to use Envoy instead of the Istio mixer

Prior to this release, the architecure implemented the Istio mixer to communicate with the Mule runtime engine (Mule) adpter. With the Istio mixer being deprecated in v1.5, the Anypoint Service Mesh architecture now leverages the Envoy filter for the communication.

  • Extended support for Istio to versions 1.7.x and 1.6.x.

Fixed Issues

  • When you provisioned adapters, the adapter plan appeared fixed and not modifiable. For example, you were not allowed to change the adapter plan from small to medium.
