To Run the PCF Space Configuration Tool

Pivotal Cloud Foundry (PCF) uses spaces to create different environments for development, staging, and production. Anypoint Platform also uses PCF spaces for reporting usage metrics.

The Space Configuration Tool creates the following services in a PCF space:

  • API Gateway Service

  • Runtime Manager Service

  • PCF Metering Service

The Space Configuration Tool also creates a cloud installer app named: cloudmanager-<uuid>. The value of uuid is a unique identifier for a PCF space.

Each instance of the Space Configuration Tool is linked to an individual PCF space. If you need to manage multiple PCF spaces, you must run the the Space Configuration Tool in each PCF space.

To Install the Space Configuration Tool

To install the Space Configuration Tool:

  1. Ensure that you have installed the cf CLI.

  2. Download the Space Configuration Tool here.

  3. Open the space_settings.yml file and edit the properties to reflect your environment.

  4. Run the following script in your PCF environment:

    python space_configuration_tool.py -i space_settings.yml

To Configure the space_settings.yml File

In the space_settings.yml file, configure the pcf-services and pcf-cloud-params properties as required. You must create and configure a separate version of this file for each PCF space you are configuring.

pcf-services

This object contains references to each of the services required by the Anypoint Platform for PCF. The default values defined in space_settings.yml are:

pcf-services:
   - servicename: 'runtime-manager-service'
     serviceplan: 'runtime-manager-plan-v1'
     serviceinstancename: 'runtime-manager-service'
   - servicename: 'API-gateway-service-v1'
     serviceplan: 'API-gateway-plan-v1'
     serviceinstancename: 'api-gateway-service'
   - servicename: 'anypoint-metering-service'
     serviceplan: 'production'
     serviceinstancename: 'anypoint-metering-service'

Ensure that the values specified in space_settings.yml correspond to the values provided when installing the Anypoint Platform Service Brokers for PCF tile. See Configure the Runtime Manager and API Gateway Service Brokers for more information.

To view the services installed in a PCF space, run the following command:

cf marketplace

pcf-cloud-params

The Space Configuration Tool uses the properties defined in pcf-cloud-params to register a space in an Anypoint Platform organization. Using these properties, it makes API calls directly to the Anypoint Runtime Manager.

Configure each of the following properties in the space_settings.yml. The values you define here must be unique for each PCF space you are configuring.

To Verify the Space Configuration Tool Installation

After running the Space Configuration Tool, verify that the different components were created.

  1. View the service instances installed in your PCF space:

    cf services

You should see the following services listed:

    • anypoint-metering-service

    • api-gateway-service

    • runtime-manager-service

  2. View the list of apps installed in a space:

    cf apps

You should see an application similar to the following:

    cloud-manager-xxxxxxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxx-c2c8882f6d65.mydomain.com

The “uuid” is a unique value for a combination of space and Anypoint Platform organization. You must never delete cloud-manager as it is used by the Anypoint Platform to deploy apps to PCF spaces.
