Workflow: Install, Configure, and Use Anypoint Platform for PCF

  1. Install and Configure Pivotal Cloud Foundry (PCF)

PCF provides the infrastructure for the Anypoint Platform runtime plane. See the installation documentation for the supported PCF version you are installing:

  2. Install the Anypoint Platform Private Cloud Edition.

To install Anypoint Platform Private Cloud Edition, you must contact your MuleSoft customer success representative to obtain a PCF-specific license. This license is required to install the Anypoint Platform Service Brokers for PCF in the next step.

Anypoint Platform Private Cloud Edition provides the infrastructure for the Anypoint Platform management plane. See Anypoint Platform Private Cloud Edition for more information:

  3. Install the Anypoint Platform Service Brokers for PCF tile.

See the Pivotal documentation at Anypoint Platform Service Brokers for PCF.

  4. Install the Mule Runtime Buildpack

The Mule Runtime buildpack is a custom version of the PCF Java buildpack that contains the Mule Runtime as well as supporting libraries, services, and application components. See To Customize the Mule Runtime BuildPack.

  5. Run the PCF Space Configuration Tool

The PCF Space Configuration Tool installs Anypoint Platform services in a PCF space. You must run this tool for each space in your PCF installation. See To Run the PCF Space Configuration Tool for more information.

  6. (Optional) Configure a Hazelcast Server

A Hazelcast server is required only if you are applying policies or scaling your APIs in a clustered PCF environment. See To Configure a Mule Hazelcast Server for more information.

  7. Deploy Mule applications to PCF.

After installing and configuring the previous components, you can deploy Mule applications to your PCF installation using the following:

    • The cf CLI

    • Anypoint Runtime Manager

  8. Access usage data using the PCF Metering API.

After your Mule applications are running, you can monitor your PCF usage via the PCF Metering API. See To Access Usage Data Using the PCF Metering API for more information.
